Best Hot Places To Visit In December

Free Stunning Seychelles beach scene with coconut tree and azure waters. Stock PhotoDecember doesn’t always have to mean snow and chilly temperatures. For those of us longing for some extra sunshine, there are incredible places to explore that will offer both warmth and summer comfort.

Let’s talk about where you might want to head for that perfect sunny escape this December.

Tropical Paradise

Tropical paradises like the Maldives, Bali, and Seychelles are top picks for beach-loving sun seekers. Picture this: pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and abundant sunshine to chase away any winter blues. The Maldives, with its overwater bungalows and vibrant marine life, makes for an idyllic getaway, particularly if luxury is on the agenda.

If you do get the chance to go to the Maldives, you will find that people are so friendly. The country can be politically unstable, so try your best to avoid street demonstrations.  We also had to be careful on some of the islands where you are not allowed to drink alcohol.

My wife didn’t need to cover her head, but wearing a bathing suit outside of designated “bikini beaches” can land you a fine, so be careful.

Bali offers a rich cultural experience alongside its stunning beaches, giving you a mix of relaxation and cultural exploration. Food is cheap so enjoy. I really enjoyed the beauty of their sunsets. Although no vaccinations are required for Bali, a mate of mine suggested getting them to be on the safe side for Hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus, and rabies.

Seychelles offers a dreamy escape with its unique rock formations and secluded beaches. Some say the Seychelles can be expensive, with travelers budgeting between 80–120 euros per day.

Rich Creole Culture

The Seychelles have a rich Creole culture and a diverse population. The main island of Mahé has 18th- and 19th-century French and British architecture.

If the Middle East intrigues you, consider the United Arab Emirates or Oman. The UAE, particularly Dubai and Abu Dhabi, is known for its luxurious shopping destinations and iconic skylines. Temperatures reach highs of 26°C in December, and you’ll have ten hours of sunshine to enjoy per day.

Laid-back Atmosphere

Oman, slightly less known, provides a more laid-back atmosphere with beautiful desert landscapes and a chance to explore stunning oases. Things to be aware of in Oman is they don’t like hugging, kissing and holding hands in pubic.

For a blend of culture and sun, South America has gems like Brazil and Argentina. Rio de Janeiro, famous for its lively beaches and vibrant culture, can offer a sun-soaked adventure.

Meanwhile, Argentina’s varied landscapes extend to hot regions like the Iguazu Falls area, delivering both natural beauty and warm weather delights. The south is renowned for its glaciers, mountains and wildlife, while the north is famous for its classic architecture.

Exploring these destinations helps you soak up sun rays and perhaps dodge the usual holiday crowds found in more wintery spots.

Be it with family, a romantic partner, or just some self-care time, these sunny escapes can transform your December into an unforgettable adventure.

Tailoring Your Winter Holiday to Suit Needs

Planning the perfect December holiday often depends on who you’re traveling with. Families, couples, and solo adventurers can all find their ideal sunny destination tailored to their preferences and needs.

For families looking for sun and fun, the Caribbean and Canary Islands provide excellent options. Resorts in the Caribbean are known for their all-inclusive packages that often offer activities for kids and adults alike.

You’re talking about endless sandy beaches, water sports, and kid-friendly pools, perfect for keeping the young ones entertained.

The Canary Islands offer a blend of cultural experiences and natural parks, giving families a chance to explore as well as relax.

My favourite is La Palma. If you try to speak Spanish they will soon resort to English if they pick up your foreign accent.

The only place where I was able to practice my schoolboy Spanish was Miami, where few people speak English on the streets including my cabbie. Mucha problema.

Romantic retreats in December can be memorable in spots like Santorini or Maui. Santorini’s stunning sunset views and charming boutique hotels make it a dreamy destination for couples.

Meanwhile, Maui’s scenic beaches and luxurious resorts offer a perfect setting for that romantic getaway, complete with lazy beach days and scenic drives along the Hana Highway.

On the adventures of solo travel, destinations like Chiang Mai and Marrakech bring rich experiences. My daughter went to Marrakech and we got a phonecall from a guy wanting to take her for three camels. We wanted five. Apart from that she really enjoyed it.

Chiang Mai offers a serene escape with its temples, mountains, and cultural immersion in Northern Thailand, while Marrakech mesmerizes with its vibrant markets, architecture, and desert adventures.

Both destinations are welcoming and offer ample opportunities to meet other travelers or spend time discovering new places on your own.

These destinations cater to diverse travel styles, so everyone can find their sunny slice of paradise to unwind and create memories that are truly special.

Planning Your December Adventure: Essentials and Tips

Prepping for a sunny December getaway involves more than just choosing the right destination.

The right packing list can make all the difference, ensuring your trip is as smooth as the beaches you’re headed to.

When it comes to what to pack, think lightweight and sun-focused. Breathable clothing, swimwear, and a reliable sunscreen are musts.

Throw in a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses for extra sun protection. If your vacation includes some nightlife or fine dining, a couple of dressier options won’t go amiss.

Don’t forget tech gadgets like a good camera or a smartphone with plenty of storage for those picture-perfect shots.

Packing for outdoor adventures? Include items like a reusable water bottle, hiking sandals, and a small backpack for excursions.

Having these essentials on hand ensures you’re prepared whether you’re exploring tropical trails or villa poolsides.

On the budget front, traveling economically doesn’t mean missing out on great experiences. And don’t forget your travel insurance in case of mishaps.

Destinations like the Dominican Republic and Thailand offer affordable packages that include accommodations and activities for a variety of interests.

These spots are perfect for travelers looking to save a bit without compromising on fun or scenery.

Exclusive Experience

For those ready to splurge, places like French Polynesia and The Bahamas offer luxury amenities and exclusive experiences.

Think private beaches, world-class diving, and spa retreats that make the trip extra indulgent. These destinations promise you unforgettable moments, with every detail crafted to perfection.

Craft your December holiday around your interests and budget, and you’ll find yourself soaking up the sun with ease.

Whether it’s a low-key trip or a lavish escape, the key is to plan thoughtfully to make the most of your sun-filled adventure.
