When you want to look cool on your holiday, you need a killer pair of shades

LOOKING for a pair of holiday shades is no easy matter. There’s plenty of places on the market where you can buy them – online outlets – high street retailers – it’s just a question of getting the right pair. If you’re out to get the perfect sunglasses for that beach trip, then it’s best not to rush into things.

There’s lots of things to consider. What’s your budget? What are your individual tastes and needs? Do you want to look sophisticated, fun or just wacky? How do they look and feel in relation to the shape of your face? Do you want quality, or are you just buying to get a brand name? How safe are they in relation to guarding against UV rays? Do you want them tinted and in what colour?

How much do I need to spend?

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, you can buy sunglasses for less than £20  or you can shell out more than £500 for the top of the range types. It’s all a question of whether you want something designer or more generic. There’s no need to break the bank, unless you want to. As well as the glasses themselves, you have to also take into account the lenses, colour and materials. Have a look at some of the Ray-Ban styles below.

Are they safe for me?

Tinted sunglasses range from 0-4, with the highest category blocking out the most light. If you are driving then don’t go for the highest number as that will block out the most light. For protection against UV rays, make sure the glasses have a CE mark, which means they comply with European Standards.

Sunglasses which are polarised offer you little glare so are recommended. They keep out the harmful UV rays and are good for outdoor activities and things such as driving.

Those people who wear glasses can buy branded or cheaper frames and get their prescriptions fitted. The other alternative is clip-on/flip up sunglasses.
