Top 10 Must-Have Travel Accessories

Traveling can be an amazing experience, but it’s important to be prepared. What travel accessories should you take with you?

It’s so easy to forget things. I’ve done it so many times. So, here  are  my own top 10 must-have travel accessories.

  1. Headphones: A good pair is essential for blocking out airplane noise, listening to music or podcasts on long journeys, and enjoying in-flight entertainment. You don’t want to hear babies crying or passengers having long conversations about which duty free perfume or aftershave they want to buy. Consider noise-cancelling headphones for the most immersive experience – but be careful not to miss out on your inflight meal. If you are looking to buy a new pair of headphones, they should produce clear, well-balanced sound across the entire frequency range, which is typically 20Hz to 20,000Hz. The bass should be present without being overwhelming, and the mids and highs detailed and crisp. 2. Travel pillow: A comfortable travel pillow can make a big difference on long flights, train and bus rides. There are many different types available, so find one that fits your needs. If you want to buy one, make sure it can provide enough support to keep your head and neck aligned, which can prevent pain and stiffness. The pillow should be made of soft, comfortable materials that won’t irritate your skin. It should also be adjustable so that you can find the perfect fit. Travel pillows come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some are designed to fold up compactly, while others are inflatable. Consider how much space you have in your luggage and how easy the pillow is to carry.
  3. Portable phone charger: Make sure that you never run out of battery on your phone or other devices. This is especially important if you’re relying on your phone for navigation, photos, or entertainment. If you need to get a new one, consider a higher wattage charger, which can be useful if you’re short on time. A standard charger will deliver 5 watts, while fast chargers can range from 18 watts to over 100 watts.  Remember that using a charger with a higher wattage than your phone is capable of handling won’t damage the phone, but it also won’t charge it any faster. If you need to charge multiple devices at once, get one  with multiple ports. There are chargers available with up to four ports. Gallium nitride (GaN) is a newer type of semiconductor material that is becoming increasingly popular in phone chargers. GaN chargers are smaller, lighter, and more efficient than traditional chargers. There are many different brands of phone chargers on the market, but some of the most reputable brands include Anker, Belkin, Samsung, and Apple.
  4. A universal plug adapter will allow you to charge your devices in any country you visit. Get one that is compatible with the voltage in the countries you’ll be traveling to.
  5. Packing cubes: These can help you stay organized and make the most of your space in your suitcase. They come in different sizes and can be used to separate your clothes, toiletries, and other belongings. If you need a new set of packing cubes, you will need to consider the types of items you’ll be packing and how much space you have in your luggage. Packing cubes are typically made from nylon or polyester. Nylon is a bit more durable, while polyester is a lighter weight. Some packing cubes also have mesh panels, which can help to keep your clothes ventilated. Some packing cubes have compression zippers that allow you to compress the contents of the cube, which can help you save space in your luggage.
  6. First-aid kit: Consider the country you are visiting and the the size and contents of the kit will depend on your needs. A small kit for your car might just have the basics for treating minor cuts and scrapes, while a larger kit for your home or workplace might include supplies for more serious injuries. If you have young children, you’ll want a kit that includes supplies for treating childhood injuries, such as adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, and a child-safe thermometer. Think about the activities you’ll be doing when you’ll need the kit. If you’re going hiking or camping, you’ll want a kit that includes supplies for treating blisters, insect bites, and sprains. Here are some of the common items that should be in a first-aid kit: Adhesive bandages in various sizes; Antiseptic wipes; Antibiotic ointment( Gauze pads in various sizes( Non-woven sterile pads; Elastic bandage; Instant cold compress( Safety pins); Scissors; Tweezers; Medical tape; and thermometer. Don’t forget your own medications (See article for more information on First Aid Kits)
  7. Reusable water bottle: A reusable water bottle will help you stay hydrated and save money on bottled water. Choose a water bottle that is insulated to keep your drinks cold or hot. Stainless steel is a popular choice for reusable water bottles because it is durable, BPA-free, and does not impart any flavors to your drinks. However, stainless steel bottles can be heavy and dent easily. Glass is another good option, but it is more fragile than stainless steel. Plastic can be a lightweight and affordable option, but make sure to choose a BPA-free plastic bottle. Insulated water bottles will keep your drinks hot or cold for longer periods of time. This is a great option if you like to drink hot coffee or tea or if you want your water to stay cold all day long. Choose a water bottle that is the right size for you. If you are active and drink a lot of water, you will need a larger bottle. If you are looking for a bottle to take with you on errands or to the gym, a smaller bottle may be more convenient. There are many different types of lids available for reusable water bottles. Some lids have straws, while others have spouts or flip tops. Choose a lid that is easy to use and leak-proof.
  8. Money belt or crossbody bag: A money belt or crossbody bag is a great way to keep your valuables safe and secure. It’s especially important to use one in crowded places or when you’re traveling in unfamiliar territory. (See article) A good money belt should offer a great balance of features, making it the best overall choice for most travelers. It has RFID-blocking material to protect your credit cards and passport from electronic theft, multiple zippered pockets to store your essentials, and a water-resistant design. It’s also comfortable to wear and comes in a variety of sizes.
  9. Deck of cards: A deck of cards is a great way to pass the time on long journeys or when you’re waiting around. It’s also a fun way to connect with other travelers. My best game with kids is snap, but it might not endear you with fellow travelers. Maybe a more grown-up game like poker might be more suitable. Known for their durability and smooth handling, KEM cards are a favorite among professional players and casinos. They are made of a plastic material that is resistant to tears, cracks, and water damage. They can also be washed clean, making them ideal for messy game nights. Bicycle cards are a classic choice that offer good quality at an affordable price. They are made from paper card stock with an air-cushion finish for smooth shuffling and dealing. They come in a variety of colors and designs, making them a versatile option for any game night. Jumbo cards are larger than standard playing cards, making them easier for young children to hold and see. They are also made from a durable card stock that can withstand the wear and tear of frequent use.
  10. Journal and pen: A journal is a great way to document your travels and capture your memories. It’s also a good way to reflect on your experiences and learn from them. It will also help you remember all the things you did in chronological order, so you won’t forget to mention anything. If you’re looking for a journal for creative writing, you might prefer a lined or blank notebook with high-quality paper that can handle ink bleed-through. Moleskine notebooks are a classic choice for writers, known for minimalist design and durable construction.
